Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) is a form of hands-on healing that originated in Japan. It is a deeply relaxing experience that eases pain, tension, and stress and balances the energy centres (chakras) of the body.  Some experience emotions as the energy blockages move through the body, leading to laughter or tears. The result is an overall sense of well-being and peace. It speeds the healing of injuries, gently realigns and detoxifies the body, and aids in the recovery from emotional trauma.  Reiki healing can provide long-term relief because it heals at the source of illness, whether it is at the physical, emotional or mental level.  The word Reiki means universal life force energy. I become a channel for this energy (also known as chi, ki or prana) allowing your body to direct it to your highest good and healing.

People can come to reiki for many different reasons:

  • Achieve higher levels of vitality and freshness
  • Experience better and deeper sleep
  • Lower stress levels
  • Reduce aches and pains
  • Experience more peace and joy
  • Increase intuitive skills
  • Release negative vibrations and energies
  • Balance energy centres (chakras)
  • Release old patterns and habits, stuck emotional pain

A typical session lasts 45- 60 minutes. You remain fully clothed while I channel the energy with a gentle touch through a series of hand positions on or above the body. Crystals are placed on the Chakra centres as needed to deepen the clearing and healing. My practice is very intuitive and can vary in many different ways.  Prior to the session starting we discuss any issues are challenges you may be experiencing, to ensure we cover all your needs in the treatment. Diffused oils, card reading and intuitive channeling can be part of the treatment or complete silence depending on what is needed in the moment.

What does it feel like?

Most people experience a very deep sense of relaxation and tension release. You may feel a very comforting warmth, heat or tingling sensation. Treatments can be very active and transformational or may be profoundly relaxing and induce sleep to help you access a level of healing that is not possible while awake. The organs of the body can undergo a detoxification of up to 15% so lots of water after treatment is important.

How should I prepare for a treatment?

Wear comfortable clothes. Do not drink any alcoholic beverages before the treatment. It’s also a good idea to have a snack or light meal beforehand.
